About
If you're wondering to yourself what this girl knows about agricultural education and why I'm qualified to tell you about this topic, you've come to the right place! My name is Katlyn Balstad, and I grew up on a family-owned farm in a small town in Minnesota. Two of my uncles, my grandpa, and my dad all work together to get the crops in on time and the pigs off to market! While my part-time job in high school was lifeguarding, I was still expected to learn and help out on the farm. Agriculture has impacted my life in so many ways and not just because it helps keep me alive. Agriculture is everywhere in my life from the corn wallpaper in my dining room to the equipment magazines filling up the mailbox, and even to the tv shows that get interrupted by my dad’s love of online combine videos! The knowledge that can be gained from these encounters with agriculture is amazing!
Information is gained in many different ways ranging from personal experiences to library books. My knowledge of agriculture comes from hands-on experiences and dinner-time chats, not from a classroom. Through research and my own knowledge, this blog will inform you on the current practice of agricultural education in, one of many possible learning environments, public schools. I hope this blog offers you knowledge and insight into an important agricultural issue! Enjoy!
